NHL Tickets – Top Five Draft Prospects Emerge

Every year, teams look to the National Hockey League Entry Draft for new talent, and players are already emerging as the most coveted picks for this year’s draft. The regular season wraps up in mid-April, and then the much-anticipated playoffs begin. When a Stanley Cup champion is crowned, every team will turn their focuses toward the NHL Entry Draft. The 2010 NHL Entry Draft will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. on June 25-26.

The first 10 picks belong to the Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins, N.Y. Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Atlanta Thrashers and Anaheim Ducks. Five players have emerged at the top of nearly every mock draft so far, and will surely be having fans rush out for NHL tickets, which can be found at StubHub.com.

Taylor Hall (Left Wing): At 18 years old, Taylor Hall should have many years ahead of him in the National Hockey League. The Canadian is currently a player for the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The Calgary native is widely considered the top pick for this year’s Entry Draft, and for good reason. He has already been through one draft (OHL), where he was selected second overall. In the last three seasons with the Spitfires, he has played in 183 games and tallied 123 goals and 157 assists.

Tyler Seguin (Center): Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin are likely familiar with one another as Seguin also plays in the OHL. He has been with the Plymouth Whalers since he was selected ninth overall in the 2008 draft. In two seasons, he has played in 124 games and had 69 goals and 104 assists. He hails from Ontario and was part of Team Ontario during the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Cam Fowler (Defenseman): Even before he was an NHL prospect, Cam Fowler was already making headlines. At only 15 years old, he verbally agreed to play for the University of Notre Dame. When the time came for him to officially agree, though, he had a change of heart. Instead, he spent the 2009-10 season playing for the Windsor Spitfire’s with Hall. In 55 games, he had eight goals and 47 assists.

Brandon Gormley (Defenseman): Brandon Gormley hails from Murray River, Prince Edward Island. Gormley has been part of multiple “Team Canada” squads as a youth. He was the first overall selection of the 2008 QMJHL draft, spending the last two seasons with the Moncton Wildcats. In the last two seasons, he has tallied 16 goals and 54 assists in 120 games.

Erik Gudbranson (Defenseman): Erik Gudbranson also honed his pre-National Hockey League skills in the OHL. He was selected by the Kingston Frontenacs as the fourth overall pick of the OHL Priority Selection. In his two seasons with the Frontenacs, he has appeared in 104 games and racked up five goals and 40 assists. He has also been a part of both Team Ontario and Team Canada in various tournaments over the years.
