If you have an HDTV and want to record your favorite programs in high-definition, then a digital video recorder, or DVR, is for you. Consumer Reports says the latest TiVo HD is as good as TiVo3 for a lot less. The new version, at $300, is a lot less expensive than the prior model, which was about $800.
