Your in-text reference should only contain the author’s surname, the year of publication and the page number of the quotation.
The full reference, which you will include in your reference list, should contain the following information for a newspaper article:
1. Author’s name
2. Title of article
3. Title of Newspaper
4. Date of publication
5. Page numbers
The way you present the information will depend on the referencing style that you are using. The Elite Editing & Tutoring website has free referencing guides for students for all of the most common referencing systems. Check it out at http://www.eliteediting.com.au/resources.php. You’ll find all the info you need on referencing there.
