i get to where its being installed, but then an error, it says “setup cannot continue because this version of the .NET Framework is incompatable with a previously installed one. For more info, see”

I have version 1.1 .net framework on my computer.
Goto Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features in Vista). See what .NET stuff is installed. It will start off with “Microsoft .NET …” See if you have anything related to 2.0. If it still doesn’t work try doing a Windows Update. Choose the Custom option to select only the updates you want and see what updates it has for you.
Vista should already come with .NET 2.0 and will not be listed in the Programs list and neither will .NET 3.0 be listed.
